What is a Registered Massage Therapist?

Registered Massage Therapists are highly trained and are experts in injury diagnosis, injury treatment, exercise prescription, injury prevention, rehabilitation and many other areas of sport and health and fitness.

What do I need to bring?

Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant bring scan/MRI reports, and list of medication. You may wish to bring shorts and t-shirt.

How many visits will I need?

The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment, the massage therapist will discuss their treatment plan for the rehabilitation process.

What should I wear to my appointment?

If we are treating your feet you will not be asked to undress but if we are treating your spine, you will be so comfortable and modest underwear or even a pair of shorts is appropriate.

How do I make an appointment?

You can get in touch by phone ( +613 - 216 -9677 ) or use the form under the contact page. Alternatively use the quick and easy online booking page, which is the method we prefer.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, massage therapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However some health insurers may require a doctor's referral before they authorize cover of fees, some only require a phone call.

Treatment duration depends on your diagnosis, the severity of your impairments, your past medical history, and other factors.  Re-evaluations will be done to assess your progress and your massage therapist communicates with your physician to help you achieve your therapy goals.

We see and treat patients for a wide range of conditions and diagnoses.  Please visit our Services for an extensive list of conditions and diagnoses we see patients for.

Not really. Massage should feel comfortable however depends on the treatment sometimes it could feel slightly uncomfortable if the therapist has to work on a tight/tender area. You could always ask for less pressure.

Not always. It depends on the area being treated. Some muscle groups are more sensitive than others. If the therapist has to work deep in order to reach for a deeper structure it might result in soreness after treatment which should not usually last more than 48 hours.

You don’t need a referral to see a Registered Massage Therapist, however, some insurance plans want you to have a referral before they cover you. You need to check with your policy to see if you need one to be reimbursed for the treatments.

Yes, all our massage therapists are licensed and registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).

For your initial visit, we recommend the one-hour session. This will give enough time to a therapist to go over your health history form, to perform an assessment if needed and to recommend a treatment plan for you.

It depends on the work your therapist will be doing, you may or may not need to undress. Most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear underwear. It’s best to work directly on the skin with an application of oil or lotion. Your massage therapist will give you enough time and privacy to undress, and get under sheets and blankets. You will be covered at all times except the area being worked on.

No, you don’t have to experience any kind of pain to come in for a session. You could just have a session for preventative reasons and the general feeling of wellness.

No. You should only undress to your comfort level. RMTs are trained on proper draping techniques to make sure that your privacy is completely respected at all times during treatment. The therapist will only uncover the area of the body being treated everything else will remain covered.

Not if you don’t want to. The therapist usually could tell if you don’t feel like talking but feel free to tell your therapist if they are not getting the vibe from you that you do not want to talk and would rather be quiet in order to relax. We don’t take it personally.

Yes, we encourage you to speak up if the pressure doesn’t feel right for you, or if you are uncomfortable with the room temperature or ambient lighting or relaxing music. The therapist could always adjust to your comfort level to make you feel comfortable.

No. We don’t expect tips. You don’t normally tip your dentist or your physiotherapist. The best tip for us is a referral.

We never double book and we always try to be ready for you when you arrive.
In return, we ask that you keep your promise to us, and show up for your appointment on time.
Please understand that massage therapists are paid only when they deliver the service. Missed appointments are costly for us and prevent us from catering to other clients.
We kindly ask that if you need to change or cancel your appointment, you give us at least 24-hour notice.
Please contact us by phone. If you do not reach us, please leave a message on our voice mail system. Email cancellations cannot be accepted.
If we do not hear from you within the 24-hour period, you will be required to pay the full amount of the treatment as booked. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.
